For LG Energy Solution, the safety of our customers and partners, as well as the quality of our products, is of utmost importance. To prevent any accident caused by misuse or mishandling of the Product, please read carefully and comply with this ‘Caution and Prohibition for use of Lithium ion Battery Cell.
-
1
Lithium ion Battery Cell contains intensive energy, and it can cause fire or explosion when misused or mishandled, leading to severe injury or property damage.
-
2
As internal energy of Lithium ion Battery Cell may not be controlled by itself, it must be used in Battery Pack with protective circuitry which can protect it from fire, explosion or abnormal conditions.
-
3
Lithium ion Battery Cell must not be indirectly or directly sold to, distributed, or used as a stand-alone, removable, or consumer-replaceable power source for any electronic devices (e.g. e-cigarettes, lanterns, etc.) LG Energy Solution’s policy does not permit, approve or recommend such act.
-
4
LG Energy Solution’s industrial users must comply with this ‘Caution and Prohibition for use of Lithium ion Battery Cell’.

-
④
Be cautious not to damage Lithium ion Battery Cell or Packs.
(2) Charging
-
①
When Charging Lithium ion Battery Cells or Packs for testing, comply with charging method and specific conditions, including voltage and charging time, specified in the Product Specification or a charging manual.
-
②
Do not leave Lithium ion Battery Pack on a charger for a long time. Remove from the charger when it is fully charged.
-
③
If any abnormal conditions such as system alert have been found, do not charge Lithium ion battery Pack and follow the Battery Pack user manual.
(3) Storage
-
①
Do not stack the Lithium ion Battery Cells when storing to avoid internal damage of cells by pressure.
-
②
Do insulate the (+) and (-) taps of unused cells when storing to prevent short circuit.
-
③
Store the Lithium ion Battery Cells according to specific temperature and humidity conditions specified in the Product specification.
-
④
Do not store the Lithium ion Battery Cells and Packs in a fully-charged or fully-discharged state. This may accelerate the degradation of the Lithium ion Battery Cells and cause unstable chemical structure leading to overheat, fire or explosion.
-
⑤
Do not store Lithium ion Battery Pack in a charger.
-
⑥
If Lithium ion Battery Pack is not used for a long period, please remove it from the system and store in specific temperature and humidity conditions in the Product specification.
-
①
Do not remove the insulating wrapper on Lithium ion Battery Cells, and do not rewrap it with a different wrapper.
-
②
Do not disassemble or reconstruct the Lithium ion Battery Cell or pack.
Do not remove Lithium ion Battery Cell from Pack. -
③
Do not throw or cause impact to the Lithium ion Battery Cell or pack.
Do not put the Lithium ion Battery Cell or pack under high pressure condition. It may cause internal damage and lead to overheat, fire or explosion. -
④
Do not use Lithium ion Battery Cell that have experienced any dropping to prevent internal short due to damage on the Cell.
-
⑤
Do not pierce a hole on Lithium ion Battery Cell.
-
⑥
Do not expose Lithium ion Battery Cell or Pack to direct sunlight/heat/fire.
Do not put Lithium ion Battery Cell or Pack in high temperature environment or near a heat source. It may cause internal damage of the Cell and lead to overheat, fire or explosion. -
⑦
Do not connect a Cell’s positive (+) and negative (-) tap with conductive materials or store it with other conductive materials to prevent electrical short. Abnormal discharging may damage the internal structure of the Cell, and excessive current flowing through the conductive material can cause severe fire or explosion.
-
⑧
Do not use any Cell that has been submerged or become wet with water or sea-water. Water may cause corrosion inside the Lithium ion Battery Cell or pack.
(1) Caution for Lithium ion Battery Pack manufacturing
-
①
Please check the appearance of Lithium ion Battery Cell before pack manufacturing. Do not use the cells and notify LG Energy Solution when any damage such as scratch, crack, rust, discoloration, dent, leakage or odor is found. Please follow the applicable regulations for disposal.
-
②
Do not use Lithium ion Battery Cells that have experienced any dropping for pack manufacturing.
-
③
Make sure to keep Lithium ion Battery Cells away from any metal object to prevent electrical short. Do not handle the Cells in the environment that may cause any damage or contamination to the Cells.
-
④
Always check the condition of (+) and (-) taps of the Lithium ion Battery Cell before pack manufacturing, and connect it in right direction.
-
⑤
Do not weld directly on the surface of Lithium ion Battery Cells. Do not expose Cells to intensive heat or pressure during welding process.
-
⑥
Do not use Lithium ion Battery Cells with other cells made by different manufacturer, or from different model or production date in one battery pack.
-
⑦
When replacing Cells in a Lithium ion Battery Pack, all cells must be replaced with new products together. Using old cells with new cells may cause fire or explosion.
(2) Requirement for Lithium ion Battery Pack / Charger
-
①
Lithium ion Battery Pack and charger must satisfy all applicable UL or IEC safety standards and contain all warnings required thereunder.
-
②
Battery Pack and system manufacturer must guide their end users to use the original charger specifically designed for the system and to follow the user manual.
-
③
Battery Pack and system manufacturer must recommend and support replacement of the Lithium ion Battery Pack whose operational time has noticeably decreased.
In addition, when the voltage of Lithium ion Battery Cells or Pack is dropped below the minimum discharge voltage specified in the Product Specification, do not allow the end user to charge or use that product for safety. -
④
Lithium ion battery pack or charger must have the voltage measuring/management system that controls charge and discharge to prevent voltage difference between cells or units (Bank, Module) and to maintain it in normal condition.
-
⑤
Lithium ion Battery Pack or charger should have the alert system for overheat, overvoltage and overcurrent.
-
⑥
Lithium ion Battery Pack, charger or adaptor must have the following protective functions. Specific conditions and values of those functions must be designed in accordance with the Product Specification.
